My parents moved to Colorado in 1965, I was 3 years old and couldn't wait to start skiing. My father jumped into real estate development and sales with projects in Vail, Breckenridge and Park County and my mother had the harder task of raising me and my 2 brothers. I grew up skiing in Breckenridge and lived in a little town (300 people) called Fairplay about 30 miles away. In 1983 I became a permanent resident in Breckenridge. I was licensed in real estate in 1986. Luck was on my side when I convinced Carol and Sigurd's only daughter Signe to marry me in 1997. We both decided that being close to family and raising our children in Breckenridge was important. So, we got with it and between 2000 and 2001 we became the proud parents of our son Ridge and daughter Hunter. We feel fortunate to be able to raise our children (the 3rd generation) in Breckenridge and the mountains of Colorado.
I started Colorado West Real Estate Group in January of 2001. My goal was to have a smaller, more intimate office setting, filled with experienced associates that enjoy the lifestyle of Breckenridge and who sincerely put their customers needs first. I also wanted an office with the best location in town, while offering the latest technology and most effective tools for helping our Buyers and Sellers with their real estate goals.
Having you as a customer for life is important to me. Colorado West Real Estate Group was designed to make sure this happens.

I moved to Breckenridge over ten years ago and became a real estate broker shortly after settling here. I'm originally from the Boston area. Prior to settling down in this beautiful mountain town I had a career spanning approximately fifteen years as a Geologist, working in the fields of oil and gas exploration and environmental engineering. My work sent me all over the western United States including stints on offshore oil rigs out in the Gulf of Mexico. It became obvious to me immediately after settling here, that I wanted to spend my time here and not traveling for work. So, I became a real estate broker and have enjoyed almost every minute since. Fortunately, now I've become part of one of the most experienced and well respected real estate teams in Breckenridge. I'm very proud to be associated with the Colorado West Real Estate Group.
I'm looking forward to many more years of helping clients find their ideal mountain retreat and enjoying the incredible lifestyle that Breckenridge and Summit County has to offer.

Carol Rockne

In 1963 I met my future husband, Sigurd Rockne, in Breckenridge. I was teaching school in Denver and would come to Breckenridge on the weekends to ski. Sigurd, formerly 3 time Norwegian Downhill champion, has been part of Breckenridge and the Ski area since it's beginning. He designed the first ski runs at Peak 8 and started and operated the first ski school. Sigurd, in his early days, is pictured at the beginning of our web site (go2breck.com). The courtship didn't last long. In 1964 Sigurd and I married and by 1970 we had 3 beautiful children, all of which still call Breckenridge home. In 1978, I became licensed to sell real estate and have never looked back. I am proud to say that I have been part of Breckenridge since the beginning of the ski area, raised a family and now get see my grandchildren grow up in this fabulous community. I am very proud to be in business with my son-in-law, Barrie Stimson, and to be offering a level of real estate professionalism and expertise that cannot be matched.

My sons and I left California and moved to Breckenridge in 1989. Because of our love of skiing and their desire to race competitively we settled in this magical town. My real estate career started in California as an escrow officer for three years and one year as a title officer.
I became a California broker and shared an office with my father until moving to Breckenridge. Within two years I had started my own real estate company that I operated for ten years before coming to Colorado Real Estate Group. I am extremely pleased to be associated with such an experienced and successful group of realtors. The lifestyle, community, and endless activities has kept me enchanted and fulfilled. My love of real estate and the many clients who have become wonderful friends is a great joy for me. Breckenridge is a pleasure to sell and has something for everyone.

I moved to Denver, Colorado in 1994 after graduating from Valparaiso University as a Mechanical Engineer. However, once I visited Breckenridge with my husband we both fell in love with Summit County and decided to move to the mountains. As there were no jobs in Computer or Mechanical Engineering here in Summit County, we searched for other creative ways to support ourselves in the mountains.
My husband, a Computer Engineer, started and has continued to run various businesses relating to internet programming and marketing. As I worked along side of him with marketing and designing advanced internet applications for the real estate industry which included sophisticated realtor tools for communicating with clients and potential buyers, I gained great insight into the local real estate market. After many years of analyzing the real estate industry in Summit County, I decided to get my license in 2005 and sell real estate.
My marketing experience along with my abilities creating online internet real estate applications provided me the tools needed to sell over $20,000,000 of real estate in my first 18 months of practicing real estate. My focus on "the numbers" continues to assist my clients in making informed decisions when purchasing or selling real estate here in Breckenridge and Summit County, Colorado.

Steve and Jan Clark

Our philosophy is the customer/client always comes first. We have been selling real estate in this county since 1983 which allows us a comprehensive view of the market. Our approach is to understand your goals and dreams then combine that with no pressure and over twenty years of experience. We have been very fortunate to have 90 percent of our business come from referrals through past buyers and sellers.
Our roots go deep in beautiful Summit County ⓠhome to us since 1977. Steve was born in Northbrook, Illinois and graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater. Jan is originally from Sioux Falls, South Dakota and graduated from South Dakota State University. We met in Colorado in 1978 and married here in 1981. Our greatest joy is our two sons; Ben, who is in the Leeds School of Business at CU and Grant, who is at Summit High School. We also love our two golden retrievers who hold down the fort.
Our love of the mountains continues to make it a pleasure to welcome you into our extended family of high country owners. We look forward to the chance to show you all Summit County has to offer and see if it meets your needs. We are pleased to be a part of the team of professionals at Colorado West Real Estate Group and it would be our honor to be of service to you.

Why the Colorado Flag for your logo?
The Colorado flag was chosen as our logo for two reasons. First, it represents our love for the State of Colorado and the life style opportunities it offers. It also represents the pioneering spirit that has always been a big part of Colorado. These traits highlight similar goals within our company. It"s a must that people on our team enjoy and cherish the treasures of Breckenridge and the Rocky Mountains, for this appreciation is truly why most of our customers want to own property in our beautiful community. Like the pioneers, the group at Colorado West R.E. also enjoy stretching our limits. There is no limit to offering the best service, hiking to the top of the peak just a few minutes faster than the last, providing better and faster technology giving our customers an edge in satisfying their real estate needs, or beating last years record by a few more days of boarding or skiing at one of our many world class ski resorts. The second reason we chose the Colorado flag was for it"s bold and bright colors and unique look. In our business advertising that gets noticed is key. Whether walking by our office, driving by a sign on one of our properties or flipping through pages of a real estate magazine we get noticed, yet again giving our customers an added advantage.
Why is Go2Breck.com printed on everything in your company?
We realize how important time is to each one of us in today"s world. Since we are primarily a second home market our customers may be in town for several days to a week, not a great deal of time to make important decisions. Therefore, we have a strong commitment to offering easy internet access to not only our properties, but all of the properties in Breckenridge and Summit County. We also offer links to other very useful information about our community. We have spent countless hours and invested heavily in Go2Breck.com in order that you may save time, obtain valuable information easily, when you want it and in a stress free environment.
Go2Breck.com is synonymous with Colorado West Real Estate Group and is present anywhere you see our company name. It"s an easy to remember and catchy domain name which we want everyone to think of when thinking about Breckenridge or Summit County.
What is the significance of the skier in your advertising?
The skier is Sigurd Rockne, Carol"s husband and Barrie"s father-in-law. Sigurd had the honor in his native country of Norway of 1st in downhill (1953 and 1954), 1st in slalom (1955), 2nd in Giant Slalom (1954 and 1955) and 2nd in Downhill (1955). He was a favorite to win gold medals in the 1956 Olympics but unfortunately broke his leg in practice 1 week before the big event. Sigurd was Champion skier, he also was one of the pioneers in helping develop Breckenridge Ski Area and owned and operated the first Breckenridge Ski School.
When we started our company we wanted to define our company with a simple, yet powerful statement, in the form of a slogan. We were going through some old pictures of Sigurd"s days of skiing competition and happened upon the picture taken when he won the Norwegian Slalom Championship in 1955. The idea was born to use "Champion" in our slogan. We felt the word, and it"s different definitions, all described how we view ourselves and the services Colorado West Real Estate Group offers to the public. Sigurd"s leaving his native Norway to make his life in Breckenridge represents the pioneering spirit that put Colorado on the map. His involvement in the town and ski area have helped form the character that so many people have come to like about Breckenridge. The pictures of Sigurd skiing also represent a person having fun doing something they love. I think we can all relate to that.
